Motorcyclist seriously injured in Erdington crash

A motorcyclist was rushed to hospital in a serious condition after a collision with a car. It prompted police to cordon off a busy junction in the city.
Police and ambulance crews were called to Tyburn Road, at the junction of Bromford Lane, in Erdington[1], at around 4pm today, Wednesday, July 26. An off-duty paramedic also stopped to help the injured rider.
He was rushed to Birmingham's Queen Elizabeth Hospital for further treatment. He is described as being in a "serious condition."
An ambulance spokesman told BirminghamLive: "We were called to reports of a collision between a car and a motorbike at the junction of Bromford Lane and Tyburn Road at 4pm. One ambulance, a paramedic officer and the West Midlands Care Team attended the scene.
"An off-duty paramedic also stopped at the scene to offer assistance. We treated one patient, a man, who was the motorcyclist. He was treated for serious injuries before being taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham for further assessment."
West Midlands Roads said there is heavy congestion in the area. They posted online: "Road closures remain in place at the Tyburn Road and Bromford Lane junction.
"Heavy traffic congestion remains in the area, with queues back down the Aston Expressway. Avoid the area if possible or expect delays."
