Motorcyclist left with ‘potentially life changing injuries’ as police issue …

A motorcyclist involved in a serious crash yesterday afternoon, July 26, has been left with "potentially life changing injuries." West Midlands Police issued an update to BirminghamLive following the incident which saw a car and a motorbike collide on Tyburn Road, at the junction of Bromford Lane, in Erdington.[1][2]

The crash happened at around 4pm on Wednesday, and prompted police to cordon off the busy city junction. 999 crews descended on the junction, as well as an off-duty paramedic who treated a male patient, who was the motorcyclist. Cops say the driver of the car is "assisting with enquiries."

There was heavy traffic congestion in the area as crews dealt with the incident. Motorists were warned to avoid the area as queues backed down the Aston Expressway.

Issuing a fresh update, West Midlands Police[5] told BirminghamLive on July 27: "The Tyburn Road was closed last night after a collision between a car and a motorbike around 4pm.

"The bike rider was taken to hospital with potentially life changing injuries. The driver of the car is assisting with our enquiries." We asked West Midlands Ambulance[6] for an update, who directed us to their most recent statement of July 26.

A spokesperson said: "We were called to reports of a collision between a car and a motorbike at the junction of Bromford Lane and Tyburn Road at 4pm. One ambulance, a paramedic officer and the West Midlands Care Team attended the scene.

"An off-duty paramedic also stopped at the scene to offer assistance. We treated one patient, a man, who was the motorcyclist. He was treated for serious injuries before being taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham for further assessment."
