Motorcyclist dies in crash that sees woman arrested at scene

A motorcyclist from Lavant, near Chichester[1], has died following a crash near Midhurst[2] on June 29. The crash, which involved a van and a motorcycle in Petersfield Road at about 10pm, saw the 25-year-old rider die from his injuries.

At the scene, Sussex Police[3] arrested a 39-year-old woman from Ceredigion, Wales, on suspicion of causing death by careless driving. To aid their enquiries, officers are now appealing for witnesses or people with relevant CCTV/dashcam footage of the vehicles in the area to come forward.

In a witness appeal on Wednesday (July 19), Sussex Police confirmed that the crash happened near the junction with Wooolbeding Lane. No other information has been released at this time.

A spokesperson for Sussex Police said: "Police are appealing for witnesses and information following a fatal collision near Midhurst. The incident involving a van and a motorcycle happened in Petersfield Road near the junction with Woolbeding Lane at about 10pm on Thursday, June 29.

"Tragically, the rider of the motorcycle, a 25-year-old man from Lavant, was declared deceased. A 39-year-old woman from Ceredigion, Wales, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.

"Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with relevant CCTV or dashcam footage of the vehicles in the area to come forward. Information can be reported to Sussex Police online[5], call 101, or email [email protected][6] and quote Operation Rivenhall."
