Motorcyclist, 58, dies after crash with Ford Focus in Billingham
A motorcyclist has died following a serious collision in Billingham.
Paul Collison was taken to James Cook University Hospital[1], in Middlesbrough[2], following the crash on on Seal Sands Road. The incident, involving a Yamaha motorcycle and a grey Ford Focus, happened on Friday at around 4.10pm.
The 58-year-old, from Newton Aycliffe, later died in hospital. Mr Collison’s family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers, Cleveland Police[3] confirmed.
The crash reportedly happened at the junction with Cowpen Bewley Woodland Park and the road was closed by police. The Great North Air Ambulance also attended the scene, according to eyewitnesses.
The force is now appealing for information following the fatal collision. A Cleveland Police spokesperson said: “A motorcyclist has sadly died following a collision in Billingham[5] on Friday 7th July.
“The incident happened around 4.10pm on Seal Sands Road involving a Yamaha motorcycle and a grey Ford Focus.58-year-old Paul Collison, from Newton Aycliffe, was taken to James Cook University Hospital, where he later sadly died.
“Paul’s family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers. Our thoughts remain with them at this extremely difficult time. Officers are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or anyone who may have dash cam footage of the collision itself or the vehicles prior to it, to contact them on 101, quoting reference number 133298.
