Man in 70s dies in fatal crash on A35 near Dorset border
The busy road – a key route between Dorset and Devon – was closed for about eight hours near Axminster yesterday afternoon.
The crash involved a Citroen C3 car and a MAN lorry near the junction with the A358 at about 1.40pm.
A man in his 70s, from Kilmington in Devon, was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
The A35 was closed in both directions for most of the day as emergency services, including the air ambulance, worked at the scene.
Devon and Cornwall Police is now appealing for witnesses following the fatal crash.
“Officers from the Roads Policing Team would like to thank the public for their patience while the road was closed,” police said.
“If you witnessed the incident or have any information or dashcam footage that could help with enquiries, please contact police via our website or by calling 101 quoting log 472 of 20/07/2023.”
