Man dies after three-car crash at Coalville crossroads

A man hospitalised in a major three-car crash in North West Leicestershire has died. The man, in his 80s, had suffered serious injuries in the crash, which happened at the junction of Broom Leys Road and Stephenson Road, in Coalville, on Monday, July 10.

The town's main routes were closed for several hours as police investigated. The collision involved a silver Ford transit van, a black Ford Ecosport and a white Vauxhall Astra.

Now police have announced the man - the driver of the Ecosport - has died in hospital. There were no other reported injuries after the collision.

The incident closed off the Broom Leys Road crossroads for more than seven hours while police and emergency services were at the scene. Investigations into the cause of the collision are ongoing.

No arrests have been made. Police are continuing to appeal for anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage from the scene to come forward and help enquiries.
