Man dies after being struck by ‘large’ falling branch

A man has died after being struck by a falling branch in Wilmslow. The 35-year-old was struck by the 'large branch' on a public footpath between Styal Road and King's Road, near The Carrs, around 2.15pm Sunday (July 9).

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin has been informed.

Cheshire Police said the Public Rights of Way department and Health and Safety Executive have been informed about the incident. The MEN reports[1] an investigation is ongoing.

In a statement, a Cheshire Police spokesperson said: "At around 2.15pm on Sunday, July 10, police were called to reports that a man had been hit by a large branch that had fallen from a tree on a public footpath between Styal Road and Kings Road.

"Officers attended the scene and sadly the man, a 35-year-old local man, was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin are aware.

The incident happened near The Carrs Park, Wilmslow

"Enquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing and both the Public Rights of Way department and Health and Safety Executive have been informed."
