Man dies after being hit by train
A man has died after being hit by a train between Milton Keynes Central and Watford Junction, southwest of Cambridgeshire[1]. A statement from British Transport Police said: “Officers were called to Leighton Buzzard Railway Station at 6.26pm yesterday (24 July) to reports of a casualty on the tracks.
“Paramedics also attended, and sadly a man was pronounced deceased. This incident is not being treated as suspicious.
“Railway lines reopened at 8.21pm yesterday.”
Leighton Buzzard Railway Station is in Bedfordshire. Some rail services diverted passengers onto alternative routes after lines reopened, while the line between Watford and Milton Keynes was suspended.
Trains were not stopping at Leighton Buzzard. Yesterday evening, Avanti West Coast said trains may be cancelled or delayed by up to 60 minutes, and disruption was expected until the end of the day.
In a separate incident yesterday (July 24), trains between Cambridge and London[3] were unable to run. Emergency services were at the scene in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, and one person was taken to hospital.
