A major Isle of Wight road has been closed and traffic is being diverted following a crash.

Forest Road, which runs from Newport to Yarmouth, has been closed.

The section between the Whitehouse Road junction and Snows is where the road traffic incident has happened.

Southern Vectis is diverting Route 7 buses and Tweeted: “Due to an RTI, Forest Road has been closed.

“As a result, Route 7 buses are unable to serve Gunville or Forest Road.

“Buses are instead diverting via Middle Road and Elm Lane.”

Police are at the scene.

UPDATE: A Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary spokesperson said: “We were called at 11.43am to a road traffic collision on Forest Road.

“This involved two cars and no injuries have been reported.”
