Long delays after all M5 traffic held due to crash

There are long delays on the M5 after a third incident resulted in all traffic being held just over the Somerset border.

The crash between junction 27, for Tiverton, and junction 26, for Wellington, was reported shortly before 10.30am. There are now residiual delays.

Inrix states: "Heavy traffic due to earlier accident on M5 Northbound from J27 A361 (Tiverton) to J26 A38 (Wellington). All lanes have been re-opened.

"Traffic was temporarily held at around 10.25am and has now been released at around 10.50am but residual delays remain."

The latest incident comes after two lanes of the M5 southbound were closed following a crash[1] this morning (July 4).

The crash involved a lorry and a van and was reported to have happened between junctions junction 22 and junction 23. According to National Highways the collision was cleared between 7.45am and 8am. Google traffic is also reporting heavy congestion on the M5 as a result of the crash.
