RECAP: Long A38 delays around Burton after crash involving lorry …
There were long delays on the A38 in and around Burton this morning after a crash on the dual carriageway. The collision involved a lorry and a van and saw one lane closed on the northbound side.
That led to 30-minute delays between the A5121 turnoff for Burton and the A5132 exit for Willington. Traffic officers were on the scene to recover the vehicles, while tailbacks were stretching three miles, according to National Highways.
A spokesperson for the department said: “1 lane (of 2) is closed on the #A38[1] northbound between #A5121[2] ( #BurtonUponTrent[3] ) and #A5132[4] ( #Willington[5] ) due to a collision involving a lorry and a van. Our Traffic Officers are on scene and recovery has been arranged. There are delays of 30 minutes with 3 miles of congestion.”
