Lanarkshire pensioner who died after being hit by lorry named

A pensioner who died after being hit by an articulated lorry on a Lanark[1] road has been named.

83-year-old pedestrian Giuseppe Molinaro, from Carluke, was struck by the vehicle on A743 High Street in the town at around 2.50pm on Monday (July 3). Emergency services attended but he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Mercedes lorry was uninjured.

Police Scotland[2] confirmed that inquiries into the crash are ongoing and appealed for anyone with information about the incident to come forward.

Sergeant Andrew Coutts, of the Road Policing Unit in Govan, said: “Our thoughts remain with Mr Molinaro’s family and friends at this time.

“We are continuing with our enquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding the crash.

“Anyone with information or who may have seen what happened who hasn’t yet spoken to police should contact 101, quoting incident number 2028 of 3 July.”
