Lanarkshire man, 83, dies after being hit by lorry as police probe …

A pensioner has died after being hit by a lorry in Lanarkshire[1] this afternoon. The 83-year-old man was involved in a fatal crash which took place just before 3pm on Monday July 3.

Emergency services raced to High Street, Lanark, following reports of a crash involving a lorry and a pedestrian. Sadly, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police Scotland[2] says enquiries into the fatality are ongoing.

The area was cordoned off while emergency services were at the scene earlier today. The road has partially re-opened with some diversions still in place.

A police spokesperson said: “Around 2.50pm on Monday, 3 July, officers received a report of a crash involving a lorry and pedestrian on High Street, Lanark.

“Emergency services attended, and an 83-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The road has partially re-opened, with some diversions in place, and enquiries remain ongoing.”
