FIRE crews struggled to access an emergency house fire due to ‘inconsiderate’ on-road parking by residents.
Two fire crews from Wimborne Fire Station were called to a property fire in Selkirk Close but were unable to get near the home due to parked vehicles.
Firefighters struggled to reach water pumps from the fire engines to the property because of the number of cars parked on both sides of the road.
A spokesperson from Wimborne Fire Station said on social media: “Please think where you park, your actions could result in us and the fire engine being delayed and the seconds and minutes count when responding to incidents.”
Bournemouth Echo:
Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service (DWFRS) state that fire engines need three meters of space to pass safely on the road.
Streets that are congested with parked cars can delay fire engines and other emergency service vehicles attending an incident.
