The A284 London Road in Arundel[1] was closed in both directions on Sunday (July 16) after an illegal rave prompted safety concerns. Sussex Police[2] confirmed that they responded to reports of an “unlicensed music event” on public land near the A-road in the early hours of the morning.

Once at the scene, police officers spoke to the organisers to bring the event to an end. The A284 was closed for a number of hours to “ensure the safety of the public and attendees” as they left the event.

The road closure is reported to be in place from the A27 Chichester Road to the A29 Whiteways Lodge Roundabout. It is believed that no arrests have been made.

A spokesperson for Sussex Police said: “Police received a report of an unlicensed music event on public land off the A284 in Arundel in the early hours of this morning (16 July).Officers attended and engaged with organisers.

“The road has been closed to minimise disruption and ensure the safety of the public and attendees as they leave the area.”
