Historic North Wales pub boarded up with rumours major chain has …
An historic pub has been boarded up with rumours it will reopen under the Brunning and Price brand or a second small chain. The Druid Inn in Gorsedd near Holywell[1] closed in June.
It has since had its windows boarded up and looks in a sad state. But the previous operators have said the site will reopen following a refurb by “new owners”.
Locally it is rumoured that the popular Brunning and Price chain has bought the site while there are also reports that Jerry Brunning’s new group Pubs Limited is the buyer.
Brunning and Price has gastro-pubs across the region and over the border – with its last North Wales opening coming in 2017 with the Dinorben Arms in Bodfari.[2] Pubs Limited has a handful of sites in Cheshire.
North Wales Live approached Brunning and Price over the reports around The Druid but they declined to comment. Pubs Ltd have also been asked to comment.
Posting on Facebook[4] after the boards went up, The Druid Inn said: “Very sad to see our local pub like this, however it has been purchased by new owners who will reopen it as a bar/restaurant after some refurbishment. So looking forward to the future.”

The Druid is situated close to the Caerwys junction of the A55[5] and lies opposite St Paul’s Church in the village of Gorsedd. It is hoped more details will be revealed about the revamp plans in the coming weeks.
