Great Oakley investigation continues after woman dies in Essex village

Police are continuing investigate a woman’s death at an Essex property. Emergency services were called to High Street, Great Oakley, after concerns were raised for a woman’s welfare.

The woman, who was in her 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene on Thursday (July 27). Two people, a man and a woman, were arrested on suspicion of murder.

In an update on Saturday afternoon, Essex Police confirmed the woman has now been released on bail until October. The man has been released with no further action taken.

Detective Chief Inspector Ant Alcock, investigating, said: “We continue to carry out extensive enquiries in relation to this matter. We are working at pace and with diligence to establish the facts, and crucially we will continue to support this woman’s family at this hugely difficult time.

“I would reiterate that while an incident of this nature will naturally cause concern in the area of Great Oakley, there is no wider impact on the community at this time.”
