Four taken to hospital as ambulance overturns after crash with lorry

A large emergency service presence was called to the A54 in Winsford following a crash involving a HGV and an ambulance[1].

All four people who had been travelling in the ambulance, including a patient, had to be taken to hospital as a result.

A spokesperson for Cheshire Constabulary said: “Officers attended the scene and found the collision involved a HGV and an ambulance.

“The ambulance had overturned as a result of the incident.

“The driver of the ambulance, along with two paramedics and a patient who were in the back of the vehicle, were all injured during the collision.

“All four occupants have been taken to hospital; their injuries are not believed to be life threatening at this time.”

The crash happened shortly before 6pm on Thursday (July 20) near the junction with Clive Lane.

Police have also confirmed that the driver of the HGV, a 58-year-old man from Bridgend, was not hurt in the crash.

An air ambulance and two Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service engines were also called to the scene.
