Flowers laid at scene of fatal Guisborough crash as man fights for life
Flowers have been laid at the scene of a fatal Guisborough[1] crash as a man remains in hospital fighting for his life.
Police and ambulance crews were called to Middlesbrough[2] Road late on Friday evening after a BMW 5-series was involved in a single-vehicle crash. Sadly, 37-year-old Kellam Hodgson was pronounced dead at the scene[3], with his family releasing a tribute to him on Sunday calling him a "much-loved son, husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend."
Flowers, bottles of Stella Artois, and cans of Strongbow Dark Fruit have since been laid beside the road alongside a number of heartfelt notes. Cleveland Police[4] has confirmed that the other man, aged 35, remains in critical condition almost three days on.
Teesside Live visited the scene on Monday afternoon, where one police car was spotted on Middlesbrough Road beside the flowers around 12.20pm.
On one of the flower bouquets, a heartfelt note said: "Myself, my girls, and all your family are going to miss that big bright smile and those one-liners. You were one of life's good guys, I will look after your family as you would of mine." Another said he was "gone too soon" and was "forever in our hearts."

The crash took place near the Middlesbrough Road's junction with The Triangle, where the Co-op petrol station and Subway sites are located. Reports suggested that a cordon was erected at the scene following the incident.
On Sunday, a force spokesperson said: "Police are appealing for witnesses and dash cam footage after a man sadly died following a collision in Guisborough. Officers were called to a single-vehicle collision involving a BMW 5-series at around 8.10pm on Friday 30th June 2023 on Middlesbrough[6] Road, Guisborough.
"Sadly, 37-year-old Kellam Hodgson was pronounced dead at the scene. Kellam’s grieving family have today paid tribute to him and has asked for privacy during this extremely difficult time." His family said: "Kellam was a much-loved son, husband, father, brother, uncle and friend."
