Empty Barons Quay units to be filled as two new venues confirmed

Two empty units at Northwich’s Barons Quay are to reopen with new tenants later this year.

Wild Tots, a food and events venue for children, will fill the old Sticky Paws unit, while the former Barons Quay Social is set to open as the Northwich[1] outpost of popular Manchester bar The Gasworks Brewbar. Barons Quay Social closed during the Covid pandemic after opening in August 2019.

Sticky Paws shut in May 2022 – just over two years after opening. Wild Tots will put on events, and activities for younger visitors –including interactive workshops, themed parties and live performances– alongside a menu featuring ‘classic favourites with contemporary twists,’ according to The Northern Lights Group.

Gasworks Immersive Northwich will feature state-of-the-art dart boards, pool tables, and live music performances in the bar, with mini golf on the terrace. Both venues are expected to open later this year.

Last month, it was revealed Barons Quay[3] made a trading loss of £200k in the last financial year[4], with the council having to supplement it using temporary Covid funding.

Councillor Nathan Pardoe, Cheshire West and Chester Council[5]’s Cabinet Member for Inclusive Economy, Regeneration and Digital Transformation, said: “The Council is committed to the regeneration of Northwich and I am delighted that Wild Tots and Gasworks Northwich will be opening in Barons Quay.

This latest news is great for Northwich, showing continued business confidence in the town and further boosting its economy.”
