Emergency services are at the scene of a two-car collision in the centre of Newport this afternoon (Wednesday, July 19).

The crash happened shortly after 1pm on St James' Street, outside Ape Vapes and the Snacks and Ladders Board Game Cafe.

A white Mercedes and a dark grey Ford 4x4 were involved.

Police are at the scene helping direct traffic, which is able to slowly move around the obstruction.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary have been contacted for a statement.
