Dunfermline: ‘Essential track repairs’ at Halbeath

It will be shut from 11pm on Thursday night until 6am on Friday morning – when no trains are running on the Fife Circle – to minimise disruption to rail passengers and local residents.

The diversion route for motorists will incorporate Halbeath Road, Whitefield Road, the B912 and Kingseat Road.

Some sections of the rails were described as ‘severely corroded’ and Network Rail said level crossing panels will be removed so workers can access the track.

A spokesperson said: “We’re carrying out essential track repairs at Halbeath level crossing as part of our efforts to keep the railway safe and reliable.

“We appreciate the patience of the community while we carry out these vital works.”
