Driver with ‘potentially serious injury’ arrested after crash

A driver who has been hospitalised with a "potentially serious injury" has been arrested on suspicion of drug driving after a crash near Shoreham[1] on Saturday (July 15). The crash, on the A270, involved three vehicles at around 2.35pm near Mayberry Garden Centre.

Two other people involved in the incident were hospitalised with minor injuries. The road was closed for a while to allow for emergency services to attend the incident, which included Sussex Police[2], firefighters and SECAmb paramedics.

A spokesperson for Sussex Police said: "Emergency services were called to a collision involving three vehicles in Old Shoreham Road, Shoreham, at around 2.35pm on Saturday (15 July). Two people suffered minor injuries which were assessed at hospital."

They continued: "The driver of one of the vehicles was arrested on suspicion of drug driving, before being taken to hospital with a potentially serious injury. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances."

No further information or a witness appeal has been released at this time.
