Drink-driver three times the limit stopped by off-duty officer

A police officer on his way to work pulled over a drink-driver who was more than three times the legal limit. The delivery driver was spotted driving erratically in Gloucester[1] by the officer who was about to start his own shift last night (July 14).

He saw an Audi at around 10.15pm as it repeatedly clipped the kerb and appeared to be driven erratically.

When the car pulled up to a property nearby, the officer stopped the driver. Taking a roadside breathalyser test, the driver blew 125 micrograms of alcohol in 100ml of breath. The legal limit is 35mg.

A 42-year-old man from Cheltenham, was arrested on suspicion of driving a vehicle when the alcohol level was above the legal limit. He remains in police custody.
