Delays as police called to ‘disruptive passengers’ on train at station
Police have been called out to Wakefield Westgate after passengers caused disruption on a train.
Northern Rail announced the disruption earlier today, noting that police were called out to deal with the incident. They also said there would be delays of up to 45 minutes between Leeds and Wakefield Westgate.
According to National Rail, the incident was first reported at 12.43pm. LNER services between Harrogate/Leeds and London Kings Cross were disrupted along with Northern services between Leeds and Doncaster/Knottingley/Sheffield.
The disruption has now ended and the incident was reported as closed by 2.11pm. National Rail said: "Following an earlier passengers causing a disturbance on a train at Wakefield Westgate trains can run normally." Northern Rail also put out and update indicating the disturbance was over. They said: "Disruption caused by passengers causing a disturbance on a train between Leeds and Wakefield Westgate has now ended. "Services are no longer affected by this problem."References
