Cyclist injured in A40 Over roundabout crash with car
A cyclist has been injured following a collision with a car at a major junction near Gloucester[1]. The crash happened at the A40 Over roundabout shortly before 7.15am today (Thursday, July 27).
A lane on the eastbound A40 was closed while emergency services[2] were at the scene and the cyclist was taken to hospital with injuries that are not believed to be serious. The closed lane has since reopened.
The incident caused huge tailbacks for motorists heading towards Gloucester from the Forest of Dean and Newent. Queues stretched back to Minsterworth on the A48 and Churcham on the A40.
Motorists said they had been stuck for more than 30 minutes in the collision. People were urged to find alternative routes.
In a statement, Gloucestershire police[4] said: “We were notified of a collision at A40 Over roundabout shortly after 7.15am today (Thursday). This involved a car and a cyclist.
“A lane closure was in place while emergency services were at the scene and this was removed around 8.30am. The cyclist has been taken to hospital with injuries which are not believed to be serious.”
