Crash closes A55 as emergency services attend

A crash on the A55 closed a section of the road for a couple of hours. North Wales Police[1] suggested motorists find alternative routes due to the closure.

The section of the busy road had two crashes on it within a short space of time. Initially, two lanes were closed on the A55[2] westbound between junction 33B and 33A.

This has cleared quickly and the lanes have reopened. However, a second incident between Junction 35 Dobshill and Junction 34 Ewloe saw the road closed in a westbound direction from 7.48pm until just after 10pm.

Westbound traffic was being diverted off at J35 Dobshill. Traffic Wales said there was heavy traffic on surrounding routes.

At the time of the closure, North Wales Police shared the following message on social media: “There has been a Road Traffic Collision Westbound A55 near to the Broughton[4] turn-off. Can motorists find an alternative route until further notice please.”

At this time it is not known how many vehicles were involved or if anyone was injured.
