Casualty covered in ‘unknown substance’ rushed to Royal Stoke

Police are still yet to confirm whether anyone has been arrested or questioned over the discovery of a man ‘covered’ in an ‘unknown substance’. They spent the weekend attempting to identify the substance after calling in the bomb squad to search a property on Abbotts Road, in Leek[1].

It comes after police and paramedics had been called to a property on the street on Saturday, July 1. Now West Midlands Ambulance Service[2] has revealed that the man was in a ‘stable’ condition when he was taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital.

An ambulance service spokesman said: “We were called to reports of concern for a patient’s welfare on Abbotts Road. One ambulance and a paramedic officer attended the scene.

“On arrival we discovered one male patient who was covered in an unknown substance. Ambulance staff worked closely with colleagues from the fire and police services to safely treat the man before he was taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital[3] in a stable condition.”

StokeonTrentLive has approached Staffordshire Police[4] for a statement regarding this weekend’s events. Witnesses should call the police on 101.
