Busy motorway CLOSED in both directions as cops lock down scene & helicopter spotted

A BUSY motorway has been closed in both directions amid an ongoing incident.

Cops have been scrambled to the scene on the M77 between junctions 1 and 2 and have shut down the busy Glasgow^[1] road.

Police^[2] vehicles have been spotted racing to the scene and a police helicopter has been spotted flying over the area near Mosspark and Pollok Country Park.

The exact nature of the incident is currently not known.

Road users took to social media^[3] as the incident unfolded.

One said: "Four police cars have gone past and another has stopped the traffic^[4].

"There has been no communication between the police and the public."

Another said: "We were on from Silverburn and managed to get off but police were in grassy areas looking for something and a helicopter was out over the Silverburn area."

Police Scotland^[5] has been approached for comment.
