All of the major roadworks in Kent this week
Motorists will need to be aware of numerous roadworks and closures impacting Kent’s key motorways this week. Work will impact the likes of the M2, M25, M20, A2 and A21 which could see drivers facing substantial diversions.
Drivers are already facing disruption with the re-introduction of the controversial Operation Brock contraflow on the M20 between junctions eight and nine to manage freight traffic heading to Dover. This weekend, motorists looking to cross The Channel were faced with multi-hour wait times as thousands took to the vital port town.[1][2][3]
Today (July 31), Kent County Council (KCC)[4] announced a key step in ensuring the longevity and reliability of the county’s roads. KCC has received an additional £6 million in government funding to ensure that potholes and safety critical defects are repaired as quickly as possible.
This brings the total sum of investment into road and footway maintenance repairs and resurfacing this financial year to around £50 million. David Brazier, Kent County Council’s Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport, said: “Our roadworkers are on the frontline every day, working hard to ensure we repair all faults that we are made aware of as we work to win the battle against potholes.”
KentLive[6] has rounded up all of the works impacting travel on the county’s vital motorways that will be taking place this week. You can find more details of roadworks on the One.Network site[7] .
