A417 near Cotswold pub to be under temporary traffic lights for nine …
A major stretch of the A417 in Gloucestershire is to have temporary traffic lights[1] for nine hours overnight from tonight (Monday, July 3) until Friday morning (July 6). It’s for drainage survey works as part of the major Missing Link road scheme.
Traffic will be restricted to one lane from 9pm to 6am near to the Golden Heart Inn[2]. The pub remains open and delays are expcted to be at a minimum due to the timings of the work.
It’s the first phase of works on the single-carriageway stretch of the A417 between the Air Balloon and Cowley roundabouts. National Highways are continuing preparatory work on the construction of a £460m dual carriageway[3] which will begin in the autumn and finish in early 2027.
The second phase starts next Monday (July 10) and this will involve a full overnight closure of the stretch of the A417 between the two key roundabouts. The closure will run Monday evening to Thursday morning (July 10 to 13) , with the closure in place from 9pm to 6am – the road is fully open during the day.
A fully signed diversion route will be in place via the A429 and A436. Local residents are being advised to use alternative routes.
National Highways said of next week’s full overnight closures: “The Golden Heart Inn will remain open for business and staff and customers will be escorted to and from the premises from Cowley roundabout. This may involve a short delay depending on our stage of work – our priority is always to keep road users and our workers safe.”
