The A38 heading towards Plymouth is closed this morning after a lorry crashed and overturned. Fortunately nobody was injured in the collision but the road is expected to be closed until at least the afternoon due to the complexity of the recovery.
The crash happened in the early hours, just after midnight. Recovery work is currently taking place between Heathfield and Ashburton on the westbound carriageway.
Live traffic and travel monitoring service Inrix says: "A38 Westbound closed due to recovery work from A382 (Drum Bridges, Heathfield) to B3352 ( Ashburton Rockpark Cross, Ashburton ). Traffic is coping well. The road is expected to be closed until at least the afternoon due to the complexity of the recovery. Once recovery is complete, inspection of the infrastructure will be required."
A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police has confirmed no one has been injured as a result of the crash. They added: "Recovery of the vehicle is taking place and the scene and road closure are now in the hands of the council’s highways team."
