Two people taken to hospital following two-vehicle crash on A171
Four people have been injured after a collision on a major Teesside route.
There are heavy delays on the A171 and the road is ‘partially blocked’ following the crash on Fancy Bank, near Guisborough[1] at around 10.35am. The accident reportedly occurred between Whitby[2] Road (Guisborough) and Margrove Road (Charltons).
Cleveland Police[3] and the North East Ambulance Service responded to the incident, causing traffic delays to Skelton[4] and Boosbeck[5]. Two people have been taken to James Cook University Hospital[6], in Middlesbrough[7], following the crash and a further two patients were treated at the scene.
A motorist has reported that two police cars and a police van are currently at the scene. She added that the road has been taped off by police, with officers diverting traffic away from the scene.
Traffic site Inrix states: “A171 Fancy Bank in both directions partially blocked, slow traffic due to accident between Whitby Road (Guisborough) and Margrove Road (Charltons).”
A NEAS spokesperson said: “We received a call at 10.36am this morning to a two vehicle road traffic collision on the A171 in Guisborough. We sent a clinical team leader and an emergency ambulance crew who treated and discharged two patients at the scene and transported a further two to James Cook Hospital for further treatment.”
