A14 crash in Northants left road into Cambs closed for seven hours …

A crash on a major A-road on the Cambridgeshire border with Northamptonshire today (Tuesday, July 11) left the road closed for more than seven hours. The eastbound carriageway of the A14 was shut between Junction 13 (Thrapston) and Junction 16 (Kimbolton).

The closure was first reported at around 1am – with the road reopening shortly after 8am. National Highways has described the crash as ‘serious’ and said that two lorries were involved.

A National Highways spokesperson said: “All lanes are now open on the A14 eastbound between J13 Thrapston and J16 Brington following the earlier collision. There are delays of 20 minutes and approx. 4 miles of congestion on approach. Please allow time for delays to ease.Thanks for your patience.”
