11 year old boy seriously hurt in crash involving concrete mixer lorry

An 11-year-old boy’s been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after a crash involving a concrete mixer lorry in Sherborne.
It happened at around 12.35pm this lunchtime (Monday 24th July) on Bradford Road near to the Oxley Sports Centre.
A second person has also been taken to hospital for injuries that aren’t thought to be serious.
A man in his 50s has been arrested on suspicion of a driving offence.
Police Sergeant Dave Cotterill, of the Roads Policing Team, said:
“I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision, or the moments leading up to it, to please get in touch if they have not already spoken to police.
“Also, I would like to hear from any motorists who may have captured anything of relevance on dashcam footage.”
Officers say they’re carrying out a thorough examination of the scene.
They’ve also thanked drivers for the patience while road closures have been in place.
