A witness said the incident at St James Wholesale Market, off Wakefield Road, involved a group of people who allegedly damaged and chased the lorry.

Police have launched an investigation.

The witness said: “A lorry driver had all of his windows smashed.”

The witness said a group of men had been seen in a heated dispute with the driver of the wagon, adding that some pallets had been thrown and windows smashed on the vehicle.

He said the police arrived after the incident.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire[1] Police said: “We are investigating a report of criminal damage of a vehicle at St James Market at around 6am this morning.

“Enquiries are ongoing.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact police quoting crime reference 13230362796.”
