Whitby Road updates live after vehicle crashes into bridge

A major route through Bristol was closed in both directions after a vehicle hit a bridge[1]. Whitby Road, in Brislington, was closed in both directions between Unicorn Business Park and Eldonwall Trading Estate, according to traffic monitoring service Inrix.

There were reports of heavy traffic in the area during recovery. Rail services were also been severely disrupted as a result of the crash.

Trainlines between Bristol Temple Meads[2] and Bath Spa stations were impacted with trains between the two stations were delayed, revised or cancelled this afternoon, passengers were warned.

Great Western Rail told passengers "all lines are blocked" between the stations. Normal service had resumed by 2.30pm, according to Inrix.
