Trains halted after vehicle collides with Beds railway bridge – live …

Train services were brought to a halt around Flitwick after a road vehicle collided with a railway bridge in Flitwick this morning (Wednesday, June 28).

Thameslink brought all trains in the area to a standstill in the interest of safety. Disruption is expected to continue until 12.00am, and trains are now being forced to travel at a reduced speed through Flitwick station as well.

A Thameslink statement on Twitter said: “No trains are currently able to move between Flitwick and Bedford until the extent of damage to the bridge is determined. Services through this area will be subject to delay so please allow extra time.”

A National Rail statement reads: “A road vehicle colliding with a bridge at Flitwick means train services running through this station have to run at a reduced speed. As a result of this, trains may be delayed by up to 30 minutes. Disruption is expected until 12:00.”

Passengers should expect delays or cancellations and may need to make alternative travel plans. East Midlands Railway between Sheffield, Nottingham, Corby and London St Pancras International are also affected.
