Teenage boy in hospital after stabbing in town centre

A teenage boy is in hospital after being stabbed in a Derbyshire town centre last night. The 17-year-old victim was attacked outside Benny’s Pizza & Kebab House takeaway in Compton Street, Ashbourne,[1] at around 9.15pm on Saturday evening (June 17).

The victim, who lives in the Derbyshire Dales market town, then made his way to the nearby Sainsbury’s supermarket, in King Edward Street. Paramedics attended the supermarket[2] and the teenager was taken to hospital with a single stab wound.

While serious, Derbyshire police[3] do not believe his injuries are life-threatening at this time. The Sainsbury’s store is closed today (Sunday, June 18) due to the incident.

A police car could be seen parked up in the supermarket’s car park at around 10.45am this morning (Sunday, June 18), with an officer guarding a cordon around the store’s main entrance. Anyone who saw what happened, or has any information about the incident, can contact Derbyshire police by calling 101, quoting reference number 23*371983 in any correspondence.
