Police raid Huddersfield cannabis factory after nearby workers spot …
Police have raided a property in Huddersfield town centre[1] after the glorious sunny weather triggered a pungent aroma to leak out to nearby street and to people working nearby.
People who worked close to Brook’s Yard, off Market Street, alerted West Yorkshire Police[2] last night (Thurs) and police vehicles and officers were present today (Fri).
One man said: “Unfortunately, for the people operating this cannabis factory, their ventilation system was not equal to the very warm summer temperatures we have been experiencing and the smell was all too obvious.”
Today (FRI) a spokesman for the Force said: “Police executed a warrant at a property on Brook’s Yard, Huddersfield, on Thursday afternoon and uncovered a large-scale cannabis factory over several levels of the building. Two men were arrested at the scene on suspicion of production of Class B drugs and remain in police custody.
“Enquires remain ongoing by the Huddersfield Neighbourhood Policing Team and anyone who has information about suspicious behaviour at the property is asked to contact the Huddersfield NPT on 101 or via the live chat facility[4]. Reports should reference crime number 13230332674. Information can also be given anonymously to the independent Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
It’s understood the vacant property in Brook’s Yard was put up for sale by Pugh Auctions last year and then withdrawn.
