Person trapped in van after crash with three lorries near Lakeside …
Firefighters are desperately trying to rescue a person who has become trapped inside their vehicle after a serious collision involving three lorries and a van on the A13. The incident, near Grays, happened westbound on the A13 between the A126 (Lakeside) and the M25 (J30).
National Highways said due to the nature of the incident, the road is expected to be closed throughout the afternoon. Ambulance staff said they were called to the scene shortly before 1.45pm this afternoon (June 26).
A spokesperson said three ambulances, the Hazardous Area Response Team (HART), an ambulance officer vehicle and a BASICS vehicle were all sent to the scene.

Essex County Fire and Rescue Service said in a statement: "Crews have reported that three lorries and a van had collided, with one person trapped inside the van. There are fuel spills covering the carriageway. Crews are currently working to release the trapped casualty."
An Essex Police spokesperson added: "We are on the scene of a serious collision on the A13 near Grays. This took place between A1012 and A1089 and a road closure will remain in place in the area while enquiries are carried out.
"We would urge drivers to avoid the area if possible and thank them for their patience and understanding. We are appealing for anyone who witnessed this incident, or for those with relevant dash cam footage, to come forward.
"Anyone with information or footage which could assist our enquiries is asked to get in touch, quoting incident 0747 of 26 June."
