Person fighting for life after being hit by a train

A person is fighting for life after being hit by a train.[1]

Police have reported that they were called to a train station, Manchester Oxford Road and Warrington[2] Central, at around 8.02am today. At the scene, at Humphrey Park station, police found a person injured on the tracks.

Officers confirmed that the person has been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. The incident is not being treated as suspicious.

A spokesperson for the British Transport Police[4] said: “Officers were called to Humphrey Park railway station at 8.02am on 26 June following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

“Paramedics also attended, and a person has been taken to local hospital with life-threatening injuries. This incident is not being treated as suspicious.”

The incident has caused disruption to rail services, between Manchester to Liverpool Lime Street[5]. Routes affected include East Midlands Railway between Norwich/Nottingham and Liverpool Lime Street, Northern between Manchester Oxford Road and Liverpool Lime Street and TransPennine Express between Cleethorpes and Liverpool Lime Street.

A spokesperson for East Midlands Railway said: “We are sad to report that a person has been hit by a train. This has occurred between Liverpool Lime Street and Manchester Oxford Road disrupting our trains on the Liverpool/Nottingham/Norwich route. We are currently unable to run trains via Warrington Central.”
