Pedestrian fights for life after being hit by a car in Leicestershire
A male pedestrian suffered serious injuries after being struck by a car in Leicestershire. The pedestrian was on the A6121 Essendine Road, just outside the village of Ryhall, north Rutland, when the collision happened and police have described his condition as critical.
The road was closed for most of Saturday while Leicestershire Police[1] carried out an investigation at the scene. The man was taken to Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham where he remains.
The police are appealing for witnesses or anyone who might have dashcam footage that could help their investigation – either of the collision or of the pedestrian or the car involved – a silver Volkswagen Golf – before the incident.
Police said the collision happened at 10.10am and that the Golf had been travelling south, heading towards nearby Stamford. Detective Sergeant Jon Putnam from the force’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “If anyone was travelling on this road this morning, and has any dash cam, please contact us.
“We’ve been at the scene carrying out investigations into what happened and any information from the public will help us piece together what happened.” Anyone who can help the investigators is asked to call 101, quoting incident number 276 of June 10.
