Traffic is building and two lanes of the M6 are closed after a lorry overturned.

Two lanes of the M6 southbound, between junction 34 at Lancaster and junction 33 at Garstang.

They will remain closed while the overturned lorry is recovered.

According to National Highways, there is heavy traffic on the stretch of road, with delays of up to one hour expected.

Currently, there are eight miles of congestion.

A spokesperson for National Highways said: “Update on M6 southbound between J34 Lancaster and J33 Garstang.

“Two lanes (of three) remain closed for a complex recovery of an overturned lorry. Currently there is 8 miles of congestion and delays of 45-60 mins.”

In an update, National Highways said: “.The recovery of the overturned lorry has been completed and all three lanes are now open.

“There remains 60 minute delays and nine miles of congestion which will take time to clear.”
