Oakamoor strengthen their position in NSSCL Division Six with …

The battle of the top two in NSSCL Division Six[1] went the way of Oakamoor seconds as they saw off the challenge of their Stafford counterparts.
It was probably not a surprise as Oakamoor entered the contest having won all eight of their league encounters.
And they made it nine straight victories to maintain their position at the top of the table.
Oakamoor took first use and managed to stick 186-6 on the board from their 40 overs.
Will Leeson’s 74, which contained eight fours, fronted the table-toppers’ batting bid, backed up by Matthew Carnwell’s 45.
Thomas Hayes (20) and Gary Wright (19) also made impressions, while Will Ashton scooped a couple of wickets.
Stafford replied with Ali Siddiqi’s 51, an innings featuring six fours, with Ian Young (30no) and Terry Jones (23) also making decent headway.
But Matthew Sells’ 3-32, allied to double strikes from Carnwell, Jack Palmer and Hassan Javed, left Stafford 158 all out.
Stafford dropped down to third and have been replaced in second by Kidsgrove who easily beat Sandyford seconds.
Connor Devine compiled 100, hitting 16 fours and four sixes, to form the backbone of Kidsgrove’s 283-9 from their allocation.
James Green weighed in with 46, Danny Roberts added 41 and Simon Lightfoot chipped in with 25 for the home side.
Kieron McKinney captured 4-52 for Sandyford, with Zac Hallam striking twice.
Sandyford’s run chase hit choppy waters from the off and they soon found themselves 10-8.
Mark Skillcorn (9no) and Tim Brennan (8) offered some sort of resistance, but Sandyford were skittled for 31. Callum McIlveen picked up 5-10 and Green claimed 3-7.
Stafford thirds had a comfortable win on the road at Blythe seconds.
A second-wicket stand of 108 between Ranjith Manghat Ramachandran and Paul Wilkins guided Stafford to 228-7.
Ramachandran struck 12 fours in his 82, with Wilkins contributing 45.
Lakshmanan Aravamudhan (27) also starred, while there were a couple of victims apiece for Shabaz Shirzad, Mark Stanyer and Hamza Shirzad.
Hamza Shirzad replied with 20 and Waqar Ali chipped in with 16, but Blythe were dismissed for 72.
Sikandar Alam Khan and Nithin Parambath scooped 4-11 and 3-5 respectively.
Porthill Park fourths were eight-wicket winners at Leycett 2nd XI.
It was a united bowling effort from Porthill Park which saw hosts Leycett bowled out for 147.
Alex Lockett, Ethan Plummer, Matt Bailey and Joe Bilton shared eight of the wickets to fall.
Dan O’Gorman (39) and Liam Bedson (23) provided the batting highlights for Leycett.
Opener Ross Kesteven led the Porthill Park chase with an unbeaten 80, which contained 11 fours and three sixes.
Tilly Kesteven (23) and Will Price (22no) lent valuable support.
Whitmore seconds won by 101 runs at home against Stone SP thirds.
Whitmore amassed 208-3 in the formative stages of the afternoon, with Piers Copeland and Elliot Jackson hitting half-centuries.
Copeland’s 71 contained 13 fours and Jackson’s 58 included 10 fours, as the pair put on 146 for the second wicket. Mike Green chipped in with an unbeaten 27.
William Farrow made 18 early on for Stone SP, but they tumbled to 55-9.
Resistance was provided by David Flower (41) and Harry Tuckwell (13no), before Stone SP were eventually bowled d out for 107.
Alex Holland was in fine form with the ball, taking 5-17 and there were double strikes from Usmah Mazhar and Shikhar Tiwari.
Moddershall & Oulton fifths were away-day winners at Meakins thirds.
David Housley’s 66 was supported by David Womble (26) and Malisha Tennakoon (23) to lead Modd to 195-7. Jake Coxon took two wickets.
Coxon (22), 13 apiece from Lee Sockett and William Hollins and 12 from Aqeel Ramzan were the best contributions in Meakins’ post-tea innings.
However, they were bowled out for 99 as Ben Housley snared 4-48 and Sam Wright helped himself to 3-16.
