Multiple Greater Anglia trains cancelled as ‘fault’ causes rush-hour …

Commuters are experiencing rush-hour disruption today (June 8) due to a train fault and subsequent cancellations on the Greater Anglia network. The issue is on a train between Sudbury and Marks Tey, but the latter station is used as a connection for people heading to London.

Three trains have already been cancelled – the 07:04 Marks Tey to Sudbury, 07:30 Sudbury to Marks Tey, and 8:30 Sudbury to Marks Tey services. Commuters coming from Sudbury have to change at Marks Tey in order to receive connections to London Liverpool Street.

Marks Tey is also on the Ipswich to London Liverpool Street line.

A Greater Anglia spokesperson said disruption is expected “until further notice”. The service provider has confirmed, however, that rail replacement buses will be put on from 7:45am between the affected stations.

Flagfinders and Panther Travel will be providing the backup service and Greater Anglia has reminded customers that e-scooters, electric and full-size bicycles are not permitted on rail replacement vehicles.

A spokesperson said: “Greater Anglia and Network Rail are sorry if your journey has been affected by this disruption. Specific train service alterations are available here[2]. Delay repay details are here[3].”
