The spokesperson said: "We were called at 5.57am to a road traffic collision involving a car and a lorry on the M6 junction 12 North, Gailey in Stafford. Two ambulances and two paramedic officers attended the scene.

"Upon arrival we found two men who were the drivers of the vehicles. The first man was the driver of the car. He was assessed and had potentially serious injuries.

"He received treatment from ambulance staff at the scene before being conveyed to New Cross Hospital[8] for further assessment. The second man was the driver of the lorry."

They continued: "He was assessed and had sustained minor injuries. He received treatment from ambulance staff followed by self care advice and was discharged at the scene."
