Man, 44, dies after being hit by lorry on Glasgow’s Duke Street
A 44-year-old man has died after being hit by a lorry on a road in the east end of Glasgow this morning.
The pedestrian was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital[1] where he was pronounced dead following the incident on Duke Street, near to its junction with Bellfield Street, at around 10.40am on June 1.
The incident prompted a huge emergency service response with multiple police vehicles at the scene and road closures in place - the road has since re-opened.
Police Scotland[3] said the 45-year-old female driver of the Mercedes lorry was uninjured.
Sergeant James Crawford of the Divisional Road Policing Unit said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the man who died.
“Our enquiries are at an early stage and I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the crash take place who has not yet spoken to police to contact us.
“Anyone with information should contact officers through 101 with reference number 1390 of 1 June.”
