Major road closed in both directions after horror crash between lorry …

A SECTION of a busy Scots road has been closed in both directions following a major crash.

The A9 between Aviemore and Granish is currently shut down following the crash[1] between a lorry and a car.

Police Scotland[2] tweeted earlier this evening to say the carriageway had been closed in both directions tonight.

They confirmed a diversion was in place but it is unknown when the road could reopen.

Scottish Fire and Rescue Service[3] were also in attendance at the incident.

Fire crews confirmed they received a call shortly after 6pm tonight to assist and were called down at 7:23pm.

It's understood ambulances and police remain at the scene of the collision.

It is currently unknown if there are any injuries.

Photos from the scene show a fire engine assisting on what looks like and overturned lorry.

Two police officers are also manning the crash area as crash investigations took place.

A spokesperson said: "Police Scotland would like to advise that due to a crash, there is a road closure on the A9 between Aviemore and Granish.

"The carriageway is closed in both directions.

"Diversions are in place and the public are asked to avoid the area if possible."

An SFRS spokeswoman told STV News: “We were alerted at 6.07pm on June 19 to reports of a road traffic collision on the A9 between Granish and Aviemore.

“Operations Control mobilised four fire appliances to the scene.

“The stop message was received at 7.23pm.”
