M56 shut in both direction as lorry catches fire after serious crash – live
A stretch of the M56 has been shut after a car and lorry smash. The truck caught fire and an air ambulance was at the scene, with other emergency services.
The crash has happened between Junction 10 A49 Tarporley Road (Stretton) and Junction 9 M6 J20 (Lymm Interchange). Traffic jams were reported in the area, as motorists were warned the road may be closed for some time.
National Highways said there was a “significant emergency service response” at the scene, with “severe delays” in both directions.
